I’m not the purest guy on the block. Hell, I’ve been around it so many times I forgot where I even started. But every now and then, the block becomes about something more. When I found a good man along the way, every place I’d been, every body I laid with, and every experience I had became meaningful. Sometimes it takes too many trips around the block to realize that the very thing you’re searching for is right next door.

Sex is the oldest occupation in history not because it could be profitable, but because it’s a guaranteed way to make money. You can’t lose. Why? Because men are always going to be searching for sex – it’s ingrained in our biology to make sex a pursuit. Men are supposed to spread their seeds in as many holes as possible – that might be crass to say, but too bad, I’m going to say it anyway.

In the animal kingdom you rarely find both a mother and father raising their young. Have you watchedNational Geographic recently? It’s always the “mother and her cubs.” It’s she who ends up raising the young alone, training them techniques they need to survive in the wild. Meanwhile, the father leaves as soon as he could, swimming open oceans or climbing the peeks of mountains looking for another bearer. Hell, some even return to eat their young. Human beings are no different, but the idea of a family unit has become so a part of our culture that we assume it’s the only way it’s meant to be. Perhaps it is, who knows, but the idea of love blinds us into guiding ourselves around structure rather than what feels normal for us as individuals.

I’m not trying to sound misogynistic, anti-woman, or anti-family. I happen to be an avid spokesperson for all, but there comes a time when men need to accept the fact that sex is a part of life rather than a taboo subject we’ve been taught to feel guilty, excited, or dumb about putting into practice. We’ve grown accustomed to punishing ourselves for having fantasies. It’s why we spend hundreds of dollars on Live Webcam sex when we’re drunk, horny, and happen to have credit cards handy. We all want so badly to “make love” rather than sex that we eventually start having one night stands as if we were in love, which tricks our brains into thinking that we are, which ultimately makes us attached to this person – a man whose name we don’t even remember. Sex is more powerful than we give it credit for, but it’s not because it’s powerful by nature. It’s us who give it power, it’s us who’ve shaped it into something more than friction, and it’s us who made sex about accomplishment, achievement, and consummation when, in my opinion, it’s always been about f**king.

Human beings are animals – some more than others – which means our psychological and sociological rules apply just the same. We may have bigger brains and higher intelligence, but neither has helped us make sense of sex. Sex makes men do stupid things – that’s pretty clear. But the root of it is because we’re bred to think sex needs to be suppressed. The results of this way of thinking is blind love and stupid lust, both of which create one hell of a session with your therapist.
