A new short fashion film titled ABV_WTR is addressing the epidemic of suicide, particularly as it effects the queer community.

“This film encompasses a visual interpretation of the mindset that precedes the decision to take one’s own life as well as humanity’s difficulty in communicating feelings and the interconnectivity between people dealing with mental health issues,” says Shanghai-based director Sasha Gransjean.
A custom-made garment from London-based brand Field of Ponies is featured in the film, as well as pieces from Whatever 21 that are worn by NYC-based queers Merlot Hawkins, Philip Errico, and Isabella Enrico.
ABV_WTR stemmed from Gransjean’s personal experience with suicide. “I wanted to make something that was a response to the desperate social climate that had seen many artists take their own lives at a very early point of the year,” the director says. “I have lost more than a handful of friends that I considered close at one time or another to suicide and it was something I wanted to explore with a project that takes a neutral stance while
provoking new thoughts on the issue.”
