When guys who found each other online decide to meet up in
person, they’re usually looking for certain red flags. Unknowingly, you may be
sending out the wrong vibes, and warding these guys off. At Gay Dating Solutions, we
understand that you’re probably giving off the bad signals because you’re just
nervous, and we’ve got you covered. Here is a list of things you should NOT do
on a first date:

Meeting Up at a Gay Bar

Gay bars are for single guys looking to meet people; they
are not the right place for a first date. Suggesting a gay bar as a meeting
place gives the impression that you’re not actually serious about your date and
going to spend a large percentage of it checking out other guys across the bar.
You may be looking around because you’re feeling awkward, but it may come off
as rude and inattentive to your date.

Talking about your Ex

If you just got out of a relationship, it’s understandable
that you still may not be over your ex; and you don’t want to get hurt again.
But going on and on about your previous relationship, or things that remind you
of your ex, makes it seem as though you aren’t ready to move into the present.
Nobody wants to be constantly compared to an old lover, or feel as though they
are competing for your love. Chances are, if you talk about your ex much, your
current date will suck and you won’t hear from this guy again.

Being Impolite to Wait-staff

You aren’t being cool when you complain about how lousy your
waiter is and not tip him. In a world where political correctness is at its
peak, overall politeness is very much appreciated, and so any signs of road
rage or impolite behavior are sure to get you crossed off your date’s list. How
you treat the service staff is usually the number one indicator of your
character, and a simple “please” and “thank you” go a long way. This is a
general rule for everyday life, not just first dates.

Being Full of Yourself

Displaying a bit of confidence is important, but sometimes,
on our quest to impress, we may take it too far and come off as arrogant and
downright obnoxious. Take a break from talking about yourself, listen to what
your date has to say, and don’t interrupt. Pay attention to your date and make
him feel important, ask questions and make conversation, as though the only
thing that matters in that moment is the guy sitting in front of you. Don’t get
too intense though, it’s a first date and not a therapy session.

As long as you don’t make these terrible mistakes, your
first date should go smoothly, and you’ll definitely get asked out for a second
one.
